Motorists warned: Road repairs along H. Cortes in Mandaue
CEBU, Philippines - Motorists who would need to traverse Hernan Cortes Street in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City are advised to take alternate routes starting tonight until tomorrow.
City information officer Jeany Eve Ynot yesterday said a condominium developer will be repairing a road, which was damaged during the excavation for the Metropolitan Cebu Water District waterline.
A traffic advisory released by the city’s traffic arm, the Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue, announced that road work will start tonight, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. and on Sunday, in the same time frame.
Last week, Mandaue City Mayor Gabriel Luigi Quisumbing told MCWD that its personnel could be apprehended and equipment impounded after they conducted road projects near Bamboo Bay condominium reportedly without a permit from the city.
MCWD conducted an installation of pipes, upon the request of the management of the Bamboo Bay condominium, which resulted to heavy traffic in the area. There was no public advisory and notice sent to the city government over the installation.
The MCWD already explained what happened along H. Cortes last Sunday and Monday and has already apologized to motorists.
The mayor also reminded owners and developers of ongoing businesses and projects that they are required to display the building permits prominently at the construction site otherwise they will be punished, in accordance with City Ordinance 12-2011-606. (FREEMAN)
