Man tries to stab his mother who refused to give him money
CEBU, Philippines - A 32-year-old man tried to stab his mother after the latter reportedly refused to give him money in Asturias town Thursday morning.
Nero Regner Labajo was reportedly irked when his mother, Josephina Regner Labajo, refused to give him money, which he allegedly intended to use to buy shabu.
Josephina was in her house preparing for their lunch when Nero arrived asking for money. She refused to give her son money, which prompted Nero to get a knife.
Nero tried to stab his mother but Josephine was able to defend herself and was able to run for help.
The Asturias police personnel conducted a hot pursuit operation against Nero, who later voluntarily submitted himself to the cops.
The amount of money that Nero asked was not stated, but SPO1 Alfredo Paglinawan said it was to purchase illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, Virgilio Lenares, a 40-year-old bus driver, was shot dead around 10:30 in the evening in front of his house in Barangay Mantalongon Dalaguete.
Lenares, who just got home from work, was shot dead a few seconds after he stepped down his service motorcycle.
Lenares, was then rushed to the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital, Dalaguete but was declared dead on arrival.
PO3 Alan Sanoy and PO1 Sherwin Cejuda, the responding officers, said they are still investigating the case to determine the identity of the suspect.
The police are also eyeing possible motives behind the killing, including an alleged land dispute. (FREEMAN)
