CEBU, Philippines - The tail-end of a cold front will continue to bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains over Cebu today, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

For the weekend forecast, Cebu will most likely be experiencing sunny weather due to easterlies or warm winds from the east now prevailing over the eastern section of the country.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration-Mactan Chief Meteorologist Al Quiblat said Easterlies will affect Visayas that would result to “low chance of rain” for Cebu.

Quiblat advised the public anew to help conserve water with the lingering effects of El Niño to intensify with drought in the coming months.

PAGASA recently forecasted that drought is most likely to hit the country by the month of May.

In its 5 pm bulletin Saturday, February 18, the weather agency said cloudy skies will bring light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail over the regions Eastern Visayas and Bicol Region.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains is expected over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera and Central Luzon.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will also prevail over Visayas and Luzon.

The coastal waters along these areas, on the other hand, will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas.  (FREEMAN)
