3 police chiefs to be moved out of Cebu?

CEBU, Philippines - At least three police station chiefs in Cebu might be relieved from their posts next week after their superior at the Cebu Provincial Police Office found them “too lax” in their responsibilities.

CPPO director Senior Superintendent Clifford Gairanod said these police commanders performed poorly in maintaining the peace and order in their respective jurisdictions despite being assigned in their post for a long time already.

“Kasagaran sa mga hepe parang relax lang, eh. Let’s move them out of their comfort zone. ‘Yung iba, pila na ka-tuig diha, nagsalig nga di na matandog. Dapat alam nila kinsa ang badlongon sa ilang lugar,” said Gairanod.

Aside from the relief, Gairanod said he will include in his recommendation to Police Regional Office-7 director Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan to have these police chiefs transferred outside Cebu.

“We need harsh moves and drastic actions for non-compliance para hindi na mag-relax,” said Gairanod.

He said he wants his men to realize that they should be serious when it comes to their job because he will really give them the sanctions needed if they fail to do so.

“As what I have noticed lang ha, maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m right, pero mura’g puro ra man gud panghadlok sa ilaha ang nahitabo. So dapat diretso. Let’s move them out of their comfort zone,” said the CPPO director.

Late last month, at least 11 police station chiefs in the province were made to explain why they failed to execute CPPO’s anti-illegal drugs campaign or the Oplan Limpyo Probinsya.

These police stations include in Alcantara, Barili, Carmen, Compostela, Oslob, Pilar, Ronda, Samboan, Tabuelan, Tudela and Toledo City.

Gairanod had earlier warned that he will have the station chiefs relieved if he is not satisfied with their explanation.

He said though that as of yesterday, they are still convening with the Provincial Intelligence Branch and Investigation and Detective Management Branch of the CPPO for their final decision on these erring police chiefs.

“Wala pa mi final deliberation, but naa na mi findings,” he said.  (FREEMAN)
