CEBU, Philippines - Close to P200,000 worth of suspected shabu was confiscated while nine persons were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bolinawan, Carcar City, Cebu last Saturday night.
The target of the Provincial Intelligence Branch’s operation was 50-year-old Liza Anquilan, who was arrested together with eight other people reportedly caught inside drug dens.
The eight others arrested were Allistair Bargamento; Vicente Dungog; Dic Norman Cuizon; Allaindelon Abeso; Limuel Secretaria; Ruben Palina; Regino Cabaluna and Dickstein Bryle Fariolen.
According to Senior Police Officer 2 Francis Villamor of Carcar City Police, Anquilan is a level three drug pusher who can dispose around 50 grams of shabu every week.
Villamor said they immediately placed Anquilan under surveillance that lasted for three weeks after receiving a report of her drug activities.
Anquilan would alle-gedly sell the drugs in Sitio Cambuntan where there were many shanties where customers sniff shabu, said Villamor. After selling the illegal drugs, Anquilan then would allegedly go home to Poblacion Tres.
At around 8:30 p.m. last Saturday, the PIB operatives conducted the buy-bust operation that led to the arrest of Anquilan after she allegedly sold a small pack of shabu in exchange for P200.
They further seized from her possession two large and at least 144 small packs of suspected shabu which weighed 15.76 grams and amounted to P186,000, as per Dangerous Drugs Board’s value.
Police also arrested the eight other suspects who were found inside different drug dens and were seized with drug paraphernalia.
The suspect, Villamor said, denied knowing who owned the shanties but admitted selling shabu and getting the supply from Cebu City.
Anquilan and the eight other suspects will be charged for violating the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002. (FREEMAN)
