Man shot dead in Duljo-Fatima
CEBU, Philippines - Despite the street presence of law enforcers during the Sinulog, an unidentified assailant shot dead a man at Sitio Riverside, Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City around 6 p.m. last Sunday.
The victim, Bartolome Milo, an errand boy at Taboan Public Market, was gunned down while drinking with his friend.
According to Senior Police Officer 3 Filomeno Mendaros, investigator at the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office, the gunman suddenly appeared from behind and immediately shot the victim in the back of his head.
After shooting Milo, the gunman reportedly just walked away as if nothing happened.
Personnel of the Cebu City Emergency Medical Services (CCEMS), led by Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak, immediately responded and tried to revive the victim, but Milo was pronounced dead.
Mendaros said they are now trying to find the victim’s companion who may have seen the face of the gunman.
He said in their initial investigation, residents in the area told them that they did not notice Milo had enemies in their place.
However, the investigators suspect that Milo might have been in conflict with someone.
“Kay miingon paman to’ng iyang kauban nga ‘nganong gidaginot pa man tawon ni’,” said Mendaros.
Mendaros said Milo’s means of living was assisting drivers to park, being an errand boy at the market and sometimes a garbage boy.
Investigators found an empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene. — (FREEMAN)
