Argao gets new CENRO chief
CEBU, Philippines - The former officer-in-charge of the Community Environment and Natural Resources in Carmen, Cebu, has been appointed as CENRO chief in the southern town of Argao.
Forester Roldan Cotejo assumed office on January 8 in compliance with an order issued by Isabelo Montejo, director of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-7.
Montejo issued a regional special order number (RSO) 2016 – 14 on January 8 to assign Cotejo formally to Argao following the retirement of CENR Officer Flordeliza Geyrozaga.
Cotejo is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the Visayas State College in 1981. He obtained his Masters in Environmental Management from the University of the Philippines in 2006.
He started work in DENR as a Forester I in 1982 and got promoted to Forester II seven years later. He was installed as OIC-CENRO in Carmen, Cebu in 2014.
Cotejo said he will do his best to lead the office reach its targets and to continue the best services provided by CENRO Geyrozaga to Argao, especially the department’s flagship programs.
Montejo urged Cotejo to be serious and committed in implementing the flagship programs of DENR, including the national greening program and patent issuance.
“Let us be critically serious in accomplishing what is expected from us especially on the NGP, and patent issuance as these are flagship programs of DENR Secretary Ramon JP Paje,” he said.
Geyrozaga, for her part, said she enjoyed her stint as CENRO chief and urged her successor to uphold transparency and accountability.
“Of my 39 years of government service, I can honestly say that I practiced honesty, loyalty and hard work. Though I am no longer the CENR officer of Argao, up until my retirement this April, I offer my full commitment and dedication to DENR,” Geyrozaga said.
During the turnover at Cebu Grand Hotel, Montejo commended Geyrozaga for her “fruitful and accomplished leadership.”
In the same ceremony, Montejo installed Planning Officer IV Eddie Llamedo as Officer-in-Charge-Chief of DENR-7’s Planning Management Division. – (FREEMAN)
