Bike driven by Chinese hits child

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A motorcycle driven by a 35-year-old Chinese national hit a seven-year-old child who was crossing the street near a beach resort in Barangay Pob-lacion, San Remegio town in northern Cebu on Sunday.

Guo Peng, a native of Shanghai province in China, was driving his way to Hagnaya port and was supposed to travel to Bantayan Island when the incident happened at around 10:30 a.m.

Based on the investigation conducted by Police Officer 3 Ricardo Ancajas and Police Officer 2 Herman Bulawit, the Chinese national came from Bogo City and, upon reaching the neighbo-ring town of San Remegio, decided to pass by the beach strip to see some sites.

Upon reaching San Remegio, however, the victim suddenly crossed the road unnoticed by Peng, leading to the accident. The child sustained injuries while Peng also hurt his left leg.

When the responding police officers arrived at the place of the accident, the child’s parents, Jovencio and Gina Cadabos, already brought the victim to Severo Verallo Memorial District Hospital in Bogo City.

The driver, meanwhile, was brought to the town’s health center.

Police said both parties were later able to arrive at an amicable settlement.  (FREEMAN)
