CEBU, Philippines – A security guard was charged with qualified theft for allegedly stealing acety-lene hose from a mall where he was assigned to work.

The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has found probable cause to elevate the complaint to court against Regiel Tumulak, 23, resident of Sitio Pusok Matimbo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Assistant city prosecutor Noel Cellona has recommended P40,000 bail for Tumulak’s temporary liberty.

Tumulak was detailed as security guard at SM Seaside in Barangay Mambaling. On December 13, at around 8:30 p.m. he was caught by a mall official bringing one roll of unused acetylene hose from the stockroom.

The accused was allegedly off duty when he was caught and refused to submit himself for inspection.

Gian Carlo Daguinotas, 29, representative of the mall, said he chased Tumulak until he was cornered at the exit gate.— /FPL  (FREEMAN)
