Boy hurt in firecracker blast

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - An 8-year-old boy suffered minor injury after a lighted firecracker went off in his left hand Saturday afternoon in Barangay Napo, Carcar City.

Joa Kim Loquinario landed at Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar.   Initial investigation revealed that the child lighted the firecracker he was playing and blasted his hand.

His injury, however, did not require him to be confined in the hospital. He was just released immediately after treatment.

Meanwhile, a stray bullet landed inside the house of Fe Pepito in Sitio Antipolo, Barangay Jugan, Consolacion shortly before midnight on Thursday. No one was hurt in the incident.

Pepito told police investigators that they were already sleeping when she was awakened by the sound from her ceiling. She noticed something hit the roof and was surprised to see a bullet landed on the mosquito net.

Pepito turned over the bullet to the police station and is expected to be submitted for ballistics examination to determine who possibly fired it. (FREEMAN)
