Woman indicted for stabbing during a party
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has indicted a 23-year-old woman for frustrated homicide after she stabbed the mother of her daughter’s classmate during their children’s Christmas Party in a downtown fastfood outlet last week.
Prosecutor Raul Cristoria has found probable cause to charge Maricel Suerte in court.
Suerte, resident of Sitio Fatima, Barangay Apas, Cebu City, was accused of stabbing Ma. Andrea Shella Gahi, 26, of Barangay Parian Cebu City, on December 16, around 3:35 p.m. while they were having a Christmas party inside a fastfood outlet along Colon Street.
Cristoria recommended P24,000 bail for Suerte’s temporary liberty.
The accused and the victim allegedly had a fight prior to the stabbing incident. According to Gahi, her husband tried to talk to Suerte to settle their differences but failed because the latter attacked her with a knife.
Suerte did not avail of the preliminary investigation and opted to answer the case in court. (FREEMAN)
