Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A 57-year-old woman met her untimely death when she was hit by a multicab while on her way home from Church in Argao town last Sunday afternoon.

Julia Albiso, 57, a resident of Barangay Langtad, succumbed to multiple injuries in the head and different parts of her body.

Police Officer 3 Benjamin Geyrozaga said the driver of the vehicle, Emily Pino, and her family also came from Church. When they reached the national highway in Barangay Langtad, Albiso reportedly crossed the street suddenly and Pino was not able to stop the vehicle on time.

Geryrozaga said Albiso was rushed to the Argao Memorial Hospital but passed away minutes after.

He said Pino was not under the influence of liquor that time nor was he driving fast.

“Normal ra man iyang padagan. Straight ra man pud unta ang dalan. Ambot nagdali-dali pud tingali ni siya (Albiso), nidiretso og labang unya wala nakabantay nga naa’y nagdulong,” Geyrozaga said.

Pino surrendered voluntarily to the Argao Police Station but was released from police custody after Albiso’s family decided not to press charges. They have agreed that Pino take care of the burial expenses.  (FREEMAN)
