CPPO coop buys computers for 50 police stations

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Police Office Consumers Cooperative has purchased P1.8 million worth of computers to be distributed to the police stations in all six component cities and 44 municipalities in Cebu.

CPPO director Senior Superintendent Noel Gillamac led the turning over of the computer units to each station represented by their respective station chiefs who were at the CPPO headquarters on Monday for a command conference.

Gillamac said the cost for each computer will be deducted from the maintenance and other operating expenses of each police station.

“Naa ta’y 50 units of personal computers worth P1.8 million ipanghatag ‘ta ni sa mga police stations para pagtabang sa ilaha sa computerization ug naa’y dedicated personal computer sa investigation,” Gillamac said.

He said he proposed the procurement of the new computer sets to give additional assistance to the police stations as well as the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch.

The police stations in Cebu actually have existing computer units, but area already obsolete, said Gillamac.

The CPPO director expects that with the new computer sets, investigators assigned will be able to do their jobs more efficiently.

He said they conducted bidding prior to the procurement to make sure that the computer specifics from the national headquarters are complied with.

From their respective MOOEs, the police stations will pay for the computer units for six months without interest, said the CPPO director. — (FREEMAN)
