2 arrested in Moalboal for drug possession

Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Two persons were arrested after they tried to run away from roving policemen Friday night in Barangay Tunga, Moalboal town.

Roland Lendio, 40, and Sofronio Escoltor, 53, were arrested after they were collared by personnel of the Cebu Provincial Public Safety Company who had to chase the two in the dark. Another one, who was seen carrying a firearm, eluded the police.

Past 11 p.m., PPSC operatives conducted a routine roving patrol in the town.

But when they reached Barangay Tunga, they saw three persons who were standing by the road side and one of them was reportedly armed with an undetermined caliber of handgun.

The policemen saw the man's gun after he slightly raised his shirt exposing the gun tucked in his waist.

The police on board the patrol car stopped near the trio and approached them.

When they introduced themselves as police officers, the three scampered off in several directions.

The police cornered the two men and asked why they ran, but did not answer.

Lenio and Escoltur were frisked by the police and yielded six packs of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

The cops tried to find the armed person but could no longer locate him.

The arrested persons will be charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
