New Cebu schools superintendent assumes position

CEBU, Philippines - Former Cebu City Schools Division superintendent Rhea Mar Angtud officially assumed on Monday her new position as Cebu provincial schools division superintendent.

Angtud supposedly took over October 1 the position left by then schools division superintendent Arden Monisit, but the assignment was temporarily recalled through an order received by Department of Education-7 director Juliet Jeruta.

“Gi-recall to kay supposed to be di gyod sa to siya i-serve,” Angtud said.

DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro reportedly ordered “overstaying” officials to be reassigned.

Monisit is now reporting as the new schools division superintendent in Mandaue City.

Angtud, however, said another order was issued by DepEd central office recently giving go signal for the implementation of the previous order.

Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III earlier said he wanted Monisit to remain because he was satisfied with his performance.

Davide said he found no reason for the school official to be transferred since Monisit is not yet overstaying.

He told Angtud regarding the matter when she made her courtesy call to the governor last month.

“I’m not new to this division. I was an assistant superintendent when I was here. Most of the people know me how I worked. Duna man gyod mga tawo nga sometime di gusto’g change, if wa pa sila kaila nako then they better know me. Akong ikasaad is I’m fair,” Angtud said.

She hopes that she would get the same trust and confidence that her predecessor enjoyed. – (FREEMAN)
