North-bound PUJs to use two malls as loading, unloading areas in Mandaue
CEBU, Philippines - To decongest traffic along the highway in Mandaue City, north-bound Public Utility Jeepneys will only be allowed to load and unload passengers at JCenter Mall and Park Mall.
Romeo Armamento, chairman for Visayas of the National Confederation of Transport Workers's Union, said it was agreed during a public hearing held recently to implement the new system before the yearend.
"Nadesisyunan ni nga tungaon asa sila nga terminal puwede maka unload ug load sa mga pasahero para maklaro gyud," Armamento said.
Armamento said around 500 PUJ units travelling to and from the different towns in northern Cebu up to Mandaue area will be affected.
On the other hand, Armamento said they are scheduled to have another meeting with the Cebu City Transportation Office within the week to make a final decision when to start the dry run on the agreement to use APM Mall as drop-off and pickup point for north-bound passengers.
The management of APM Mall earlier agreed to allow the north-bound PUJs to use part of its parking space as drop-off and pickup points for free. (FREEMAN)
