Partial SALN: Quiño richest town mayor

CEBU, Philippines - Compostela Mayor Joel Quiño is the richest based on the partial Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth of municipal mayors in Cebu released by the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas.

 Quiño has a net worth of P9.2 million as of December 2014, topping the list of seven municipal mayors whose SALN were made available to the media. He has P3 million in real properties and P13.3 million in personal properties. His total assets amounted to P16.3 million.  He declared P7.2 million in liabilities.

 He listed Green Lagoon Park in Compostela as his business interest and two relatives in government.

Tabuelan Mayor Rex Casiano  Gerona declared P9.1 million net worth. His assets include the P1.3 million real properties and P7.8 million personal properties and without liability.

Mayor Aly Arquillano of San Francisco, Camotes came in third among the millionaires with P7.6 million net worth. His total assets amounted to P10.5 million with a total of P2.9 million liabilities.

Arquillano has been a dealer of San Miguel and Coca Cola products since 1990s.

Minglanilla Mayor Elanito Peña has P2.6 million net worth with six relatives in government service. He was followed by Barili Mayor Teresito Mariñas with P1.5 million net worth. Tudela Mayor Erwin Yu declared P1.2 million net worth.

Aloguinsan Mayor Mariolito Biton is the poorest among the municipal mayors whose SALNs were made available by the anti-graft body. He has P53,000 net worth and P612,000 liabilities.  There are 45 municipal mayors in Cebu but most of their SALNs were not yet available to the media. — (FREEMAN)
