CEBU, Philippines - A 9-year-old girl was admitted to the hospital after she was allegedly raped Sunday afternoon in Consolacion town.

PO1 Marjorie Paller, Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of Consolacion Police Station, said that the grandmother of the child went to the police station Sunday afternoon after she discovered that her granddaughter was raped.

Paller said that the child was separated from her grandmother, who is a vendor, and was allegedly picked up, by a still unidentified habal-habal driver and was brought to an isolated area in Barangay Danglag.

The habal-habal driver allegedly raped the child, beat her up and then left her behind.

Another habal-habal driver reportedly saw the child and turned her over to the barangay hall of Danglag.

When the grandmother arrived, she then took the child and brought her to the police station where the WCPD personnel conducted an initial interview.

However, Paller said that the child was in a state of shock but was able to mention that a habal-habal driver picked her up and brought her to an unfamiliar place.

She was allegedly beaten up and raped by the unidentified habal-habal driver and was left behind.

Paller said that the victim suffered bruises all over her body and was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

Consolacion Police Station’s WCPD will conduct further investigation once the child is able to speak.

She added that they will refer the child to VSMMC’s Pink Room for psychological and medical examinations.

She said that they might also recommend the child to undergo stress debriefing to help her recover from the trauma.  (FREEMAN)
