JVR’s son denies resignation due to allies’ “issues”
CEBU, Philippines - Talisay City administrator John Yre De los Reyes is denying allegations that the reason behind his plan to resign is due to a misunderstanding between his father’s allies under the Liberal Party.
The reports are baseless, said Yre, who is the son of Talisay City Mayor Johnny De los Reyes.
Yre said his father and lawyer Alfredo Sipalay asked him to resign from his post as city administrator so that he can be the campaign manager of the mayor’s full slate for the coming election.
“Maoy gusto sa grupo nga akoy tigpamaba ni mayor pareha gud sa previous nga administrasyon pero wala lang to siya mo-resign,” Yre said.
“Confirm nana. I will resign as administrator kay support man ta,” the younger De los Reyes added.
Yre said he will submit his resignation letter on February. Sipalay, who is aspiring for a seat in the City Council, earlier told reporters before filing his certificate of candidacy that Mayor De los Reyes asked him to be his running mate since other personalities has declined his offer.
Sipalay said that he will only accept the offer with the condition that Yre, as well as Mayor De los Reyes’ brother, James, would resign from their positions at the City Hall.
Sipalay also extended the same conditions when the mayor wanted him to be the chairman of the Bids and Awards Committee. (FREEMAN)
