Vic Loot files COC for mayor of Daanbantayan
CEBU, Philippines - An estimate of 2,000 “organizers” flocked to the Commission on Election office of Daanbantayan town yesterday to support retired police chief superintendent Vicente “Vic” Loot, who filed his Certificate of Candidacy for mayor.
Loot is running for mayor of Daanbantayan under the United Nationalist Alliance-Kausawagan Sa Norte (UNA-KSN) Party, which is allied with One Cebu Party headed by gubernatorial candidate, former Cebu Provincial Board member Winston Garcia.
Loot said each “organizer” handles a minimum of ten leaders who also handle at least ten voters each.
Daanbantayan has around 43,000 registered voters, based on the 2013 elections.
Loot’s runningmate, former councilor Simplicio “Boy” Mantos, also filed his COC. Their complete slate are: reelectionist Councilors Bregidorietta “Brigitte” Tancawan; Juanito Ybañez; Samuel “Sammy” Moralde; Jupiter “Jupjup” Rosell; Mamerto “Mitong” Rodrigo; Logon (Malapascua) Barangay Captain Rex Novabos, the president of the Association of Barangay Councils; Maya Barangay Captain Elvir Ali Abucay; and former councilor Renato “Rene” Benatiro.
Loot is challenging the reelection bid of Mayor Augusto “Itok” Corro who defeated Malou in the 2013 elections.
Corro, Vice Mayor Gilbert Arrabis Jr. and their candidates for councilors under the Liberal Party are set to file their COCs today, the last day of filing. (FREEMAN)
