Osmeña to file cases vs Carillo

Jean Marvette A. Demecillo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Former Cebu City mayor and south district Representative Tomas Osmeña will be filing charges against City Councilor Gerardo Carillo for allegedly allowing a member of his staff to be employed in a restaurant owned by Carillo’s girlfriend.

Carillo’s staff member is currently an employee of City Hall.

“I’m filing a case against Carillo for using his own staff to cook in the restaurant,” Osmeña said.

He said it is not proper to employ his staff of the City Hall for his personal business, especially when it is still within office hours.

Osmeña did not divulge yet as to what charges he will file against Carillo.

Further, Osmeña alleged that Carillo used the city’s money to pay for the free pay-per-view of the Manny Pacquiao-Mayweather fight in different barangays of the city in May this year.

“Later on he will ask the city to spend for it after without approval from the City Council... Imagine, he is only Councilor, what more if he is congressman? That is why I’m filing a case against him,” Osmeña said.

Carillo is running for the south congressional seat under Team Rama in next year’s election against Congressman Rodrigo Abellanosa who will be running under BOPK.

Sought for comment, Carillo admitted that he has employees that are having part-time jobs in the restaurant of his girlfriend.

However, he clarified that these employees do not go to their part-time jobs during office hours at the City Hall.

“Naa man sila’y DTR (daily time record). Kon mamakak sila sa ilang DTR, ilaha ng tubagon,” he said.

He said he will wait for the complaint that Osmeña will be filing.  —/ATO (FREEMAN)
