Eddiegul pushes for Mega Cebu development authority
CEBU, Philippines - Former first district Representative Eduardo Gullas yesterday commended the Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (MCDCB) for pushing for the creation of the Mega Cebu Development Authority.
“To the MCDCB, congratulations! This will be beneficial to Metro Cebu,” Gullas said in an interview with The Freeman.
Gullas said when the draft bill is done, all Cebu legislators, as well as Cebuano Senator Serge Osmeña, should work together to ensure that it gets approved in both the Upper and Lower House.
“And I would like to suggest all Cebu congressmen to sponsor this bill, and Senator Serge Osmeña also sponsor it in the Senate,” the former lawmaker said.
He said the Cebuano lawmakers should also work together to make sure that the MCDA is approved in the 16th Congress.
Gullas’ grandson, Samsam Gullas, is the incumbent representative of the first district, which has five local government units under the MCDCB.
If approved, the MCDA will also cover all 13 member-LGUs in Metro Cebu, including the two towns and three cities of the first district. The MCDA function includes formulating and regulating plans and projects for Metro Cebu.
In its third-quarter meeting in Liloan the other day, the MCDCB, chaired by Governor Hilario Davide III, presented a draft house bill creating MCDA.
Davide gave the board members until September 23 to submit their comments and suggestions to the proposed bill, which they hope to be submitted to the House of Representatives next month before it declares a recess. (FREEMAN)
