Couple in child’s death faces raps

Grace Melanie L. Lacamiento - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – The man who allegedly beat up a two-year-old girl to death and his live-in partner are facing criminal charges before the Office of the Provincial Police Prosecutor.

The Minglanilla police headed by their chief, Chief Inspector Richard Dinopol Gadingan, filed a murder complaint formally against Nicodemo Corales Diloy, 33, a construction worker.

A separate complaint for violation of Section 10a of Republic Act 7610 or the anti-child abuse law, as well as for obstruction of justice, was filed against Diloy’s live-in partner, Aileen Donayre, 24, the mother of the child.

Donayre had the child from a previous relationship.

PO3 Hazel Tuazon of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Minglanilla Police Station said Donayre’s offenses were downgraded from parricide, as recommended by Provincial Prosecutor Pepita Jane Petralba.

“Basin ma-dismiss daw ang kaso kay kulang ang among evidence to prove parricide. Mas lig-on among kaso kon RA 7610 ug obstruction of justice,” Tuazon said.

Diloy allegedly banged the head of Ritsanlyn Donayre against the wall of their house in Sitio Panaghiusa, Barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla last Sunday afternoon.

According to a child witness, Diloy also allegedly punched her in the stomach, causing the child to faint.

Tuazon said they have attached to the criminal complaints the affidavits of an 11-year-old neighbor and Cristina Diocampo, the former guardian of Donayre, as the eyewitnesses to the crime. –/JMO (FREEMAN)
