Man found dead in Brgy Babag

CEBU, Philippines - A man police believed was a victim of summary execution was found dead with a broken neck early morning yesterday in Sitio Maling, Barangay Babag, Cebu City.

The victim was identified as Edmard Coliflores, married and a resident of Barangay Kabadiangan, Compostela, Cebu.

Senior Police Officer 2 Rommel Bancog, investigator at the Homicide Section in the Cebu City Police Office, said Coliflores was identified by his uncle, Carlos Paradiang.

Bancog said they have not initially identified the victim since they have not found any identification card from his possession and no one from Sitio Maling recognized him.

Bancog said Paradiang identified Coliflores at the Saint Francis Funeral Homes where the victim’s body was brought.

It was the staff of the funeral parlor who called up the Homicide Section to inform that Coliflores’ relatives have already claimed his body.

While Bancog was not able to give further details how Coliflores’ body was found in Barangay Babag, he only got only some information from Paradiang.

Bancog said Paradiang may possibly have any idea why Coliflores was killed.

According to police investigation, at around 6:30 a.m., a certain Robelyn Gacayan, who was about to take her children to school, saw Coliflores’ body lying at a gully with  his head wrapped with a plastic cellophane.

Bancog said they have not seen any injury in the victim’s body.

Policemen are looking for someone who might have seen the culprits when they threw Coliflores’ body in the area. — Ma. Fatima R. Secuya/LPM (FREEMAN)
