Grandma caught with drugs charged

CEBU, Philippines - Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 have filed criminal complaints before the Carcar City Prosecutor’s Office against the 75-year-old woman and her four alleged cohorts who yielded at least P236,000 worth of suspected shabu.

 Police Officer 3 Joseph Villaester of CIDG-7 said that Beatriz Secretaria and her daughter Ethel Intong, Ethel’s husband Marcelo, and two others identified as Regino Cabaluna Jr. and Albert Greg Delantar, are facing charges for violating Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act 2002.

 Secretaria and four others were arrested in a raid in Sitio Cambuntan, Barangay Bolinawan, Carcar City Friday morning.

 CIDG-7 implemented the search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Soliver Peras after subjecting Secretaria under surveillance for almost two weeks.

 The police recovered one medium and 240 small sachets of suspected shabu all weighing at least 20 grams.

 They also confiscated a .38 revolver with three bullets and a .22 magnum revolver with four bullets, which were reportedly owned by Secretaria’s son, Lemuel, who was able to elude arrest.

 Secretaria was considered to be a level-two drug pusher who can allegedly sell at least 200 grams of illegal drugs every week.

 Secretaria earlier denied handing the illegal drugs to the customers, but admitted that her house was used as a drug den.

 She also admitted that she was forced to venture into the illegal activity since she needed money for her maintenance medicine for high blood pressure.

 Secretaria was arrested for the same offense last year but was able to post bail.

 She and her four alleged cohorts are currently detained at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 inside Camp Sotero Cabahug in Cebu City.

 Villaester said that their inquest proceedings before the Office of the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor are set today.

Indicted for homicide

 Meanwhile, for allegedly killing his nephew, a 42-year-old man is facing charges before the Regional Trial Court.

Prosecutor II Van Russel Inopiquez found probable cause to indict Victor Bolivar, a resident of Sitio Mansanitas, Cogon-Pardo, Cebu City, for homicide, after he opted not to answer the allegations filed against him.

 In an inquest proceeding, Bolivar manifested not to undergo preliminary investigation to answer the accusations filed against him before the Office of the Cebu City Prosecutor.

 Inopiquez recommended a P40,000 bail for Bolivar’s  temporary liberty.

 Gigi Espinosa, 22, live-in partner of the victim, Ryan Bolivar, 25, said while they were having a breakfast at around 7:15 a.m. on August 25, 2015, Victor suddenly appeared before their residence and confronted her live-in partner and told Ryan to stop his vices of allegedly using shabu.

  Espinosa said she was shocked when she saw Victor pulled out a small gun from his waistline then shot the victim.  Ryan was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. 

PO2 Glenn Teogangco of Pardo Police Station and two others rushed to the crime scene after they received a report of the shooting.

 Teogangco and his companions proceeded to the house of Victor and arrested him after he admitted to the crime.

 Police officers recovered a .38 caliber snub-nosed “paltik” revolver from the possession of Victor. — (FREEMAN)
