Boy, 15, killed by prime mover
CEBU, Philippines- A 15-year-old boy died after the motorcycle he was driving hit a prime mover, which subsequently ran him over on Saturday dawn along Barangay Poblacion, Carmen town.
Kent Blair Piñas, a resident of Barangay Triumfo, met the accident at past 3 a.m. yesterday after sending his girlfriend home in the nearby Barangay Langlang, Danao City.
Police Officer 3 Jerome Quemque, traffic investigator of Carmen Police Station, said Piñas was driving a motorcycle and was crossing the intersection at the national highway when he accidentally hit the back of a prime mover.
Because of the impact, the boy was thrown to the road and was run over by the truck.
“Ang bata gikan ni sa crossing, nilargo siya og enter sa national highway, napaslak sa ilawom sa prime mover. Naligsan siya,” Quemque narrated.
According to Quemque, the girlfriend allegedly asked Piñas to go home straight after he had sent her home.
However, the boy allegedly went to Barangay Poblacion, Carmen where the accident happened.
“Ang estorya naghatod sa iyang uyab sa Danao, giingnan nga largo nala’g uli. Unsa’ng hitaboa nga nilargo man sa Carmen,” Quemque said.
Truck driver Jeffrey Pugado, 30, of Tabok, Mandaue City, said he was not aware that something hit the back of the truck until he noticed that the vehicle slightly shook. He alighted from the truck to check what happened and saw the victim lying on the road, apparently dead already.
A resident in the area saw what happened and called the police.
Carmen Police personnel arrived and brought Pugado to the police station and the body to the funeral parlor.
The police released Pugado after the parents of Piñas agreed to have the matter settled amicably and Pugado to shoulder the funeral expenses. (FREEMAN)
