CEBU, Philippines - An American national lost more than half a million worth of valuables and cash after his house was burglarized by unidentified men in a subdivision in Talisay City Friday afternoon.
Robert Edward Bess, 46, a US Citizen staying in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, lost his high-end gadgets and several items when he left his house to attend to some personal appointments.
Police Officer 2 Romil Mortejo of the Talisay City Police Station said based on their investigation, the burglars gained entry into the house by destroying the sliding window located at the back part of Bess’ house.
The stolen items include two pieces of iPad Mini worth over P22,000 each; a laptop worth over P40,000; a Samsung NX camera worth over P90,000; an underwater Fuji camera worth close to P7,000; a LED Projector worth over P30,000; a Louis Vuitton bag worth more than P40,000; three high-end watches worth P39,000; and sets of branded jewelry worth close to a hundred thousand.
The burglars also took $2,500 and P20,000 cash. Motejo said all items stolen amounted to P650,000.
Investigators of the case suspect that at least three men broke into Bess’ house since a lone burglar could not carry all the items. —/ATO (FREEMAN)
