Multicab falls off cliff, driver dies

CEBU, Philippines- A 66-year-old man died after the multicab he was driving fell into a ravine at Pacific Heights, Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City yesterday morning.

Cesar Manzano, of Vista Grande Subdivision in Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, was declared dead on arrival at the Talisay City District Hospital.

Police Officer 1 Janel Figura, desk officer of Talisay City Police Station, said that Manzano was driving a multicab on his way home from Tabunok when the accident happened past 7 a.m. yesterday.

According to the witnesses, the multicab suddenly stopped while negotiating uphill and started running in reverse until it fell into the ravine.

Rescuers immediately rushed to the scene but took sometimes to extricate the victim. He was rushed to Talisay District Hospital but did not make it alive.

Figura said that the multicab may have developed mechanical problem while maneuvering the uphill road. Another possibility that the police investigators are looking into is that, the driver may have suffered from cardiac arrest.  (FREEMAN)
