January to July: CSBT gets P4 million income from toilets

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) collected at least P4-million revenue from the use of its comfort rooms, bringing its total income to P38.5 million in six months.

CSBT operations manager Ramon Dumayac said the ticket for toilet use costs only P5 but with the thousands of passengers at the terminal, the accumulated amount has reached P4 million from January to July this year.

In yesterday’s “Kapistorya sa Kapitolyo,” a weekly forum organized by the Provincial Information Office, Dumayac said the toilet fee is an enterprising business, like the stall rentals, which yielded P5 million for the same period.

The terminal fee for buses is the biggest income-generating at P23 million, while the terminal fee of P10 for taxis also contributed a significant income for the province-owned facility.

Dumayac said he anticipated the terminal’s income to reach P70 million by the end of the year, which would be P10 million higher than last year’s.

Meanwhile, Dumayac admitted that the terminal has yet to get a building permit from the Cebu City government.

He said that as of yesterday, their application for fire clearance is still with the Bureau of Fire Protection office.

He denied that the city government under Mayor Michael Rama is delaying the release of the building permit to hold them hostage so the province will allow the transfer of the terminal to the south.

Rama, who recently closed the Citilink Terminal, said that because CSBT is currently congested, there is a need to relocate it to a bigger area in Talisay City or Minglanilla town.  — Liv G. Campo/NSA (FREEMAN)
