Capitol employees to get P15T bonus
CEBU, Philippines - Each of the 1,553 regular and casual employees of the Capitol will receive P15,000 cash incentive as part of the Collective Negotiation Agreement.
Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale announced the amount yesterday on behalf of Governor Hilario Davide III, who is in Japan for an official business, as she delivered the anniversary message.
Magpale called on the Cebuanos to remain united.
“Let us stay united,” she said on the occasion of the province’s 446th founding anniversary.
She thanked the department heads and Capitol employees for their “unusual cooperation” with the present administration.
She also commended the members of the Provincial Board for their unwavering support. She said measures have been passed without oppositions despite some members are of different political parties.
There are only four members of the legislative body who are not allies of Davide in the Liberal Party.
“Wala gyuy magtuki-tuki sa measures aron lang mobabag. Kun duna man, it was made to refine better unsa’y katuyoan,” Magpale said.
She gave the anniversary message in Davide’s stead as the latter is still in Tokyo to participate in an international public-private partnership forum. He will stay there until August 8.
Magpale mentioned the calamities and hurdles that the present administration had to overcome – the ship collision, magnitude 7.2 earthquake, super typhoon Yolanda – which occurred few months after Davide was elected.
“Despite these, mibarog atong pangagamhanan… We’ve done things together, it’s not perfect. But akong nakita nga naserbisyohan nato ang publiko, hinaut nga mapadayon ang panaghiusa ug kooperasiyon,” she said, drawing claps from the crowd.
Cheers also went louder as Magpale announced the bonus.
Last Monday, the Provincial Board approved the province’s fourth supplemental budget for this year, which covers the P23 million for CNA.
Yesterday’s celebration was highlighted by a ballroom dance competition participated by Capitol employees. For twice in a row, the legislative department emerged as the champion and brought home P30, 000 cash prize.
As it marked its founding anniversary, the province also declared the winners of the agricultural fair. Dalaguete town, touted as the “vegetable basket of Cebu,” bagged the “Best Booth” award and received P20, 000.
Yesterday was also as a special non-working holiday all over the province pursuant to Republic Act 8952.
Cebu was founded on August 6, 1569. King Philip II of Spain appointed Miguel Lopez de Legaspi as the first governor of the province. (FREEMAN)
