BOC-Cebu awards top exporters, importers
CEBU, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs-Port of Cebu recently awarded the top exporters and importers in Cebu during its 129th Founding Anniversary recently.
BOC-PoC honored the exporters for their contribution in attaining its target collection for 2014.
For 2014, BOC-PoC had a target collection of P12.497 billion but was able to collect P13.079 billion.
The top ten importers of Cebu are Seaoil Philippines, Inc., Steelasia Manufacturing Corporation, Kepco-SPC Power Corporation, Tridhama Marketing Corporation, Apo Cement Corporation, Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Incorporated, Cebu Energy Philippines, Incorporated, Petronas Energy Philippines Incorporated, Joyland Industries Corporation and Carmen Copper Corporation.
Conrado Abarintos, chief of the Collection Division, said that the top import commodities for last year were coal, oil and steel.
"This is because Cebu has several power plants here and the booming construction industry," he said.
The top ten exporters of Cebu, on the other hand, are the Philippine Mining Service Corporation, Carmen Copper Corporation, Miesto International Foods Corporation, Pilipinas Precious Metal Resources, Profood International Corporation, Apo Cement Corporation, Corbox Corporation, Cebu Adhesive Trading, Ceed Forming Corporation and Holy Heart Export, Inc.
Maria Theresa Ricalde, trade control examiner of the Export Division said that the top export commodities in terms of volume are mineral ore, scrap metals, ice pops, dried fruits and purees and portland cement.
Ricalde showed data that in terms of value, the top export commodities are dried fruits, mineral ore, frozen seafood, wooden furniture and dried seaweeds.
BOC-PoC likewise honored the top ten exporters of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority.
They are the Tsuneishi Heavy Industries, Cebu Mitsumi Incorporated, Taiyo Yuden (Philippines) Incorporated, Teradyne Philippines Ltd., Lear Automotive Services (Netherlands), TMX Philippines. Inc., RICOH Imaging Products (Philippines) Corporation, HPOI Corporations, Pentax Cebu Philippines Corporation and Yamashin Cebu Filter Manufacturing Corporation. — (FREEMAN)
