CEBU, Philippines - Two men died on the spot in separate shooting incidents in Cebu City Sunday night.

In Barangay Inayawan, a man died after he was shot by an unidentified gunman inside his friend’s house.

Jomar Romarate, 24, was allegedly playing on an illegal gambling machine when a certain Mario Sipalay, 26, shot him once in the head that led to his instant death.

Senior Police Officer 2 Rommel Bancog of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office said at around 5:30 p.m., Romarate and two of his friends were drinking inside their friend’s house.

Bancog said Romarate went to an adjacent room of the house to play video karera when, suddenly, a man approached the victim from behind and shot him in the back of his head.

Bancog said they received information that prior to the incident, there was a group of men who asked money from Romarate, but the victim did not pay attention to them.

He said  it could be the reason for the killing. However, Bancog said they still have to conduct further investigation.

“Posibli nga gitripan lang ni siya,” added Bancog.

Two hours later, police responded to another shooting incident involving a 31-year-old man along Plaridel Extension corner Quezon Boulevard, Unit III Carbon Public Market, in Barangay Ermita, Cebu CIty.

Romeo Ceniza Jr., of Martires Street, Sitio Kamansi, Barangay Lorega, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds after he was shot by two unidentified men onboard a motorcycle.

Police investigation showed that at around 7:30 p.m., Ceniza was walking in the area when, suddenly, one of the assailants approached him from behind, pulled out an unknown caliber and shot him three times.

Ceniza sustained gunshot wounds to his head and his body that led to his immediate death while the gunman and his cohort sped off to an unknown direction.

Bancog said they received information that Ceniza is a known thief at Carbon market, which was also confirmed by Ceniza’s brother. Bancog said this could be the motive of killing Ceniza.

Romarate and Ceniza were both brought to the Saint Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy.  (FREEMAN)
