Naga government worker survives ambush
CEBU, Philippines - An employee of the city government of Naga landed at the hospital after he was shot by unidentified gunman Friday afternoon few meters away from his house in Sitio Tayad-tayad, Barangay Cantao-an in the said city.
Edito Sasan, 55, was rushed to South General Hospital because of a gunshot wound in his neck.
Police Officer 3 Ken Cabrera, desk officer of the City of Naga Police Station, said the victim was driving his motorcycle on his way home from work when the unidentified gunman shot him in the neck.
The unidentified gunman fled onboard a waiting motorcycle after the victim fell on the ground. Concerned citizens brought the victim to the hospital where he is now in stable condition.
Responding police officers recovered an empty shell for a Super .38 caliber round at the crime scene. The police, however, are still facing blank wall as to the motive in the ambush.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man was also injured after he was stabbed by his neighbor Friday midnight in Barangay Basdiot, Moalboal town.
Librado Galvero Jr., 23, was stabbed twice in the stomach by Felix Andaluna after he refused to buy a bottle of wine.
PO3 Edwin Illut, desk officer of Moalboal Police Station, said that Andaluna was already sleeping but was awakened by the suspect because he wanted the victim to buy a bottle of rum for him.
However, Galvero refused and went back to sleep instead which irked the suspect. The suspect fled after the incident while the victim was rushed to Badian District Hospital. The victim was later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center. (FREEMAN)
