Davide wants building permit for CSBT done

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III has ordered the provincial administrator and the General Services Office to check on why the Cebu South Bus Terminal still has no building permit despite its existence for more than 30 years.

Davide said he immediately directed provincial administrator Mark Tolentino and PGSO chief Jone Sepe to work on it after learning about it recently.

“I already told Tolentino and Sepe nga ipa-check and they’re working on it,” Davide said.

The governor said Tolentino has been talking to the “guys at the City Hall” with regards to the problem.

Last week, CSBT operations manager Ramon Dumayac admitted that the province-owned terminal, which was built in 1981 under the administration of then governor Lito Osmeña, has been operating without building and occupancy permits.

Davide said he is wondering why it was allowed to operate without those pertinent documents. He surmised that there must be a mutual agreement between the two local government units considering that it is owned by the Capitol and the permits are to be secured at the Cebu City Hall.

“Syaro, kadugay na ana. Sabot-sabot ra tingali kay LGU to LGU man,” he said.

Davide said the CSBT must have a building permit because of the plan to improve it to cater to the increasing number of passengers. The terminal is one of the economic enterprises of the provincial government.

Based on records, it has earned P40 million in revenues for the province last year.— (FREEMAN)
