Palma urges “Father lawyer” to use gift for good of people
CEBU, Philippines - “May you use this gift as a true gift of the Lord, making good use of this so that you contribute to a more just, harmonious society.”
This was the wish of Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma when ask for his message for the new set of lawyers who passed last year’s bar examination, the results of which came out last Thursday.
One of the new Cebuano lawyers is Fr. Domingo “Dan” Delos Angeles, a Catholic priest who is also a broadcaster and print media columnist.
Palma said the lawyer-priest will definitely provide legal enlightenment to the archdiocese and the church in general.
“When the results came out, I texted him. I said ‘thank the Lord that you passed.’ It’s not easy. Only 18 percent of the total takers passed. We are happy that he passed. This is a gift can be used for the good of the church and its people,” he said.
For now, Delos Angeles is given by the prelate more time “to celebrate” and give thanks.
“There’s a way to make optimum use of this gift. We discourage priests to litigate, go to court like others. He could contribute more to the solution rather than the problem. We have yet to discuss the matter,” Palma said.
Apart from being a priest, De los Angeles is also active in the broadcast media as resident spiritual segment host to GMA 7 Cebu’s morning show Buena Mano Balita.
