Guns seized from ex-tanod
CEBU, Philippines - Assorted firearms were seized by elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-7 from the house of a former tanod of Barangay Linao, Minglanilla, Cebu yesterday morning.
Henrick Herbas Sebial, 55, was apprehended around 6 a.m. yesterday by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Gilbert Moises of Regional Trial Court Branch 18.
Police recovered two caliber .45 pistols, a .22 caliber rifle, a .38 revolver, a 12-gauge shotgun and several ammunitions from his house.
CIDG-7 deputy chief, Superintendent Fermin Armendarez III, said Sebial’s neighbors complained about him showing off his firearms especially when he gets drunk.
CIDG also received reports that he would aim his gun at his neighbors.
“Pirme na siya magdala og armas. Magsige og pabuto labi na og mahubog,” Armendarez said.
Senior Inspector Delfin Bontuyan said they placed Sebial under surveillance for a week before they applied for the search warrant. His neighbors have also reported about Sebial firing his gun indiscriminately. Officials of the barangay were also made aware of the complaints.
Sebial, for his part, said his firearms are for self-defense.
Armendarez said the guns confiscated from Sebial will be subjected to ballistic examination to identify if these were used.
Sebial is currently detained and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
