The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Aiming to develop the writing skills of police officers tasked with community development programs, the Regional Public Safety Battalion-7 partnered with The Freeman for an interactive basic writing workshop yesterday at the Tagapanglungsad Hall of Camp Ceperino Genovia, Bahay, Sibonga town.

Around 39 personnel of RPSB-7 and Police Community Relations officers of the Philippine National Police were lectured on the basics of news and feature writing, primarily to improve the output of the unit’s official publication “Kilat.”

The publication will feature stories on developmental programs and endeavors of RPSB-7 as produced by the police unit.

The pilot activity was initiated by RPSB-7 Battalion Commander Police Senior Superintendent Clifford Bajarias Gairanod who said they wanted to work on the written communication skills of police officers.

“Kilat” editor-in-chief P01 Mark Murphy Galapin admitted they are starting from scratch in terms of writing and said that through the workshop, they hope to help the writers and contributors of their publication.
