Minor quake jolts Bohol
CEBU, Philippines – A minor earthquake greeted Boholanos yesterday morning.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the tremor was recorded at magnitude 4.
The epicenter was traced three kilometers northwest of Antequera, Bohol.
This was felt at intensity 4 in Antequera, Bohol, and milder at intensity 3 in Tagbilaran and Loay both in Bohol.
In Cebu city, the tremor was experienced at intensity 2.
According to PHIVOLCS Earthquake Intensity Scale (PEIS), intensity 4 is categorized as “very strong.”
As described by the state seismology agency, this intensity makes people lose balance and moves heavy objects or furniture.
Furthermore, intensity 2 is categorized as “slightly felt” especially those indoors with hanging objects swinging and still water in containers moving as well.
PHIVOLCS Mactan chief Robinson Giorgio said no damage was reported following the earth shaking.
