CEBU, Philippines - A 45-year-old man was found dead with multiple stab wounds and lacerations in his body on Monday in Barangay Vito, Balamban, Cebu.
Jayme Retasa’s wife found him already dead after earlier informing that he was headed for the barangay proper to ask for money from his son for grocery.
Based on police investigation, Retasa told his wife Camela, 44, at around 8 a.m. that he would go to their 18-year-old son who works as a baker at a bakery shop.
But later in the afternoon, Camela wondered why it took her husband so long to return home.
She decided to look for him and eventually found him some 600 meters from their house already covered in blood.
The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and lacerations, which the police believed to have caused his death.
The police also believe that the perpetrator was a neighbor of the victim with whom he had a grudge, although they are withholding his name.
Retasa and his neighbor allegedly had a misunderstanding, which was amicably settled in the barangay last December.
Police Officer 1 Mark Gorres of Balamban Police Station said they are also looking at other possible motives behind the killing.
Investigation is ongoing to arrest the culprit, added Gorres. — (FREEMAN)
