CEBU, Philippines - Vice President Jejomar Binay extended his condolences to the families in the town of Ronda, Cebu, whose members perished during typhoon Seniang.

Binay personally went to the wake of the seven members of Bajenting-Faunillan family in Barangay Liboo, Ronda who died when flashfloods swept their home. The family’s two-year-old and a one-month-old child are still missing.

Binay also gave the family as well as the relatives of those who died cash assistance.

There were 14 people who died in Ronda during the onslaught of the typhoon.

He also distributed relief goods to the typhoon victims.

“Dagdagan pa ninyo ang inyong pananampalataya sa ating Mahal na Panginoon. Hindi Niya tayo pababayaan,” said Binay in his speech before Rondahanons.

The vice president promised to also provide cash aid to other typhoon victims and give housing assistance to those who lost their houses to the typhoon.

Binay said that after learning the devastation in Cebu brought by typhoon Seniang, he immediately decided to see for himself the actual scenario.

“Kaya nang malaman ko ang nangyari sa inyo, kailangan na makarating ako. Kailangan kong makita kung ano na ang nagyari,” he said.

Binay also went to Dumanjug town and distributed relief goods to the typhoon victims.

Prior to this, he had a boodle fight at the Dumanjug Public Market together with former Cebu governor and current Third District Representative Gwendolyn Garcia and the town residents.

He also visited Sibonga town and also distributed goods to those victimized by typhoon Seniang.

Prior to the distribution, Garcia introduced Binay as the next president of the country and as somebody “who works so hard but hardly talks.”

Binay then proceeded to Nuestra Señora del Pilar Church where a mass was held for a typhoon victim who was about to be laid to rest.

The vice president also gave cash aid to the victim’s family.

Binay was greeted with a thunderous applause by the people of Carcar upon arrival at the city to also give relief goods to typhoon victims.

Binay said he wanted to assure those in need that there is a government that is willing to help them.  (FREEMAN)
