Teenager interrupts Mass

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – The 5:45 a.m. Mass at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral yesterday was stalled when a 19-year-old boy reportedly jumped onto the altar during the final blessing.

Reynald Ricaborda, of Ozamiz City, was arrested by the tanods of Barangay Sto Niño after disturbing the Mass.  Raul Guiñares, team leader of the tanods, said during the final blessing Ricaborda suddenly ran down the aisle, raised his arms and jumped on the altar.

Churchgoers were alarmed and called for assistance at the nearby Barangay Hall and Guiñares together with some of the tanods responded. They arrested Ricaborda and brought him to the barangay hall.

When they searched Ricaborda they recovered amulets and a piece of paper with Latin words in his possession. He was also speaking in Latin when he was arrested and when he was interrogated by the tanods.

Waterfront Police Station desk officer PO2 Jenniferpal Torregosa said that Ricaborda is currently detained in their station and will be charged for alarm and scandal.  — Bryner L. Diaz and Jojo Ugdol of BANAT News/BRP (FREEMAN)
