Pedicab driver shot dead
CEBU, Philippines - A 42-year-old pedicab driver was shot dead by his passenger in Sitio Bonbonan, Baranggay Labangon, Cebu City on Sunday.
Roy Jarita, a resident of the said barangay, sustained multiple gunshot wounds causing his death.
Initial investigation revealed that Jarita was waiting for a passenger in the area when the unidentified gunman came.
Jamel Tabasa, another pedicab driver who was also waiting for passengers together with the victim, said that the unidentified person asked and looked for Jarita.
The gunman then rode the pedicab and asked the victim to drive. Tabasa said he overheard the suspect telling the victim, "Utangan man ko nimo atong bagyo bay no?" and handed over money to him.
The victim then started to pedal away from the place. However, few minutes after the victim left, a burst of gunfire was heard.
The unknown assailant was seen hurriedly left the area on board a waiting motorcycle.
The police recovered from the crime scene three empty shells for caliber .45 pistol. (FREEMAN)
