LPA near Guiuan has dissipated

CEBU, Philippines - It’s good news for the Philippines, at least for now. The Low Pressure Area that the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration has been monitoring following tro-pical cyclone Ruby has dissipated due to the northeast monsoon.

Still, Jhomer Eclarino, Weather Specialist I, said Central Visayas will still experience light rainshowers as PAGASA observes cloud clusters that may also develop into another LPA.

“May mga cloud clusters pa rin na among gi-monitor if ma-develop but kadtong usa nga among gitan-aw last week nawala na,” Eclarino explained.

The formation of another LPA east of Mindanao inside the Philippine area of responsibility may be possible today, which may affect Eastern Samar and the region by tomorrow. This would bring light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.

In the next few days, the region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

“It is mostly scattered rain shower pero kadali lang,” Eclarino said.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the Eastern Visayas area and the coastal waters along this area will be mode-rate to rough. Other areas will have light to mode-rate wind coming from the east to northeast with light to moderate seas.

PAGASA director Engineer Oscar Tabada said the LPA was supposed to enter the region last December 12 but there could be a possibility that the same would disperse.

PAGASA still warns of another typhoon that may enter the region before the year ends.

“Atong tan-aw before December at least two typhoons…unya humana man ang usa…mao nang ang ikaduha atong gi-monitor,” Tabada said.  (FREEMAN)
