CEBU, Philippines - Two men were injured after four vehicles figured in an accident at the South Road Properties yesterday morning.

Elias Vargas from Compostela, Cebu and Giovanni Sasam from Punta Princesa, Cebu City sustained minor injuries and were brought to Cebu City Medical Center.

Both Vargas and Sasam were heading to Talisay City from Plaza Independencia when they met the accident.

Vargas drove a yellow multicab with plate number GLA 390 while Sasam a taxicab with plate number GXL 215. The taxicab was owned and operated by Cebu City 6 Sense Corporation.

City Traffic Operations Management operations chief  Joy Tumulak said that a trailer truck carrying a container van with plate number YJJ 439 lost control, and hit the vehicles of Vargas and Sasam at past 9 a.m. yesterday.

The truck driver was identified as Dante del Rosario, of Patag, Naga City.

Del Rosario was bound south from Plaza Independencia. He admitted that he noticed on the way that his brakes had malfunctioned making it hard for him to control the truck.

Around that time, traffic enforcer Christian Abellanosa, who was manning the intersection, ordered Vargas and Sasam to stop and give way for another trailer van with plate number GXF 170. John Rey Migabon from Bogo, Cebu was driving the van from Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City.

Just when Migabon passed the junction heading to Talisay City, the trailer van of del Rosario hit Vargas and Sasam.

"Pagtabok ni Migabon sa intersection, timing nagdagan gihapon og kusog ang truck ni Del Rosario. Nalagpot ang taxi ug ang multicab unya nalabay sa kilid sa truck ni Migabon," Tumulak said.

Abellanosa, who noticed the speeding truck of Del Rosario, immediately went to a safe area and was spared from the accident. The traffic enforcer was just standing beside the vehicles of Vargas and Sasam.

"Napiit si Vargas sa multicab while si Sasam wa ra," Tumulak said.

Vargas suffered from bruises on the different parts of his body while Sasam was injured on his arms.

The accident caused four-hour traffic, affecting those who are bound south.

The traffic went back to normal and the area was totally cleared by noon after CITOM personnel removed the vehicles that were blocking the lane using heavy equipment.

Migabon and Del Rosario are now in CITOM's custody.
