Town councilor dead, 2 others injured
CEBU, Philippines - A motorcycle accident claimed the life of a Badian town councilor and injured two others on Saturday in Barangay Poblacion, Badian.
Municipal councilor Carlylle Villarin, 44, of Barangay Taytay, died while his companion, Dexter Ferolino, 29, was injured after they both fell on the ground when the motorcycle they were riding collided with the one driven by Jaime Bismanos, 26, of Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City. Bismanos was also injured during the accident.
Initial investigation conducted by SPO1 Emmanuel Caballero revealed that Bismanos was heading to Badian while Villarin was en route to Barangay Taytay Badian.
While traveling in opposite directions, the two vehicles collided and Bismano’s motorcycle fell on the drainage.
Villarin, Ferolino and Bismanos were brought to the Badian District Hospital but doctors declared the town councilor dead on arrival.
Badian Police Station is still conducting further investigation to determine which party is at fault.
Meanwhile, a multicab driver died after he figured an accident with a trailer truck in Barangay Tungkop, Minglanilla town past 3 a.m. yesterday.
Jerry Llamedo, 43, of Barangay Abugon, Sibonga, was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after he sustained serious injuries on his body.
Dario Taborada Jr, 31, Barangay Balud, San Fernando, the driver of the trailer truck, was detained after the accident.
Police Officer 1 Golem Cañada, desk officer, said that at past 3 a.m. yesterday, Llamedo was driving a private multicab coming from Cebu City heading towards Sibonga, while Taborada was driving the truck towards Cebu City.
Initial investigation revealed that Llamedo tried to overtake a vehicle but lost control of the steering wheel and hit the trailer truck on the opposite lane.
“Ang multicab ni-attempt og overtake, ni-encroach sa pikas lane, bisan naka-break na ang trailer wala gyud madala naigo siya sa trailer truck,” Cañada said.
Llamedo was brought to the Minglanilla District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Taborada surrendered to Minglanilla police. He will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and damage to property. (FREEMAN)
