Man hacked to death after revolver misfired
CEBU, Philippines - A “drunk” man trying to shoot his neighbor was hacked to death Saturday afternoon in Barangay Napo, Carcar City.
Randy Reyes, 36, of Sitio Tagaytay in the said barangay, was declared dead on arrival at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar City because of severe hack wounds.
The suspects were identified as Christopher Dayagdal, 31, and his brother, Erwin.
Police Officer 1 Vernon Gilcaña, of the Carcar City Police Station, said Reyes went to confront Christopher about an old personal grudge and the latter’s alleged threat to kill him.
Reyes allegedly slapped Christopher before pointing a caliber .38 revolver at him. Reyes tried to shot Christopher but the gun misfired giving the latter the chance to get a bolo and hack the victim.
Gilcaña said Reyes was also able to get hold of a bolo and fought back injuring Christopher in the process. Erwin, who saw his brother already bloodied, also got a bolo and helped in killing Reyes.
Reyes and Christopher were brought to the provincial hospital where the former was pronounced dead on arrival while the latter was confined for treatment.
Erwin was immediately arrested and is now detained at the Carcar City Police Station. The Dayagdal brothers are expected to face today a criminal complaint for homicide before the city prosecutor’s office. (FREEMAN)
