Anti-illegal drug operations net 4 suspects, shabu packs

CEBU, Philippines - At least four men were arrested in different anti-drug operations conducted in Cebu on Thursday.

A team from the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group swooped down on Aldrin “Cocoy” Ylanan, 44 in a buy-bust operation in sitio Lower Lomar, Barangay T. Padilla, Cebu City.

Ylanan, who is reportedly engaged in selling illegal drugs in the area, was arrested after he personally handed one pack of suspected shabu worth of P200 to a policeman who acted as a poseur-buyer.

Another nine sachets and one medium-sized pack of the same substance, P200 marked money and P890 cash were recovered from the suspect.

The confiscated drugs were said to have an estimated market value of P63,720.

Meanwhile, Guadalupe Station Police operatives arrested Jeffrey Laraat, 30, and Jopel Lumayao, 18, during a checkpoint along R. Duterte Street, Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe at 11:30 p.m. last Thursday.

Laraat and Lumayao, who were initially apprehended for a traffic violation for not wearing helmets and not having driver’s license, were arrested after a small pack of suspected shabu was found in their possession.

Several pieces of tinfoil, five rolled tissue papers and two disposable lighters were also recovered from the suspects.

In another buy-bust separation in Barangay Cambuhawe, Balamban, Cebu, 42-year-old Florencio Torres was arrested after he yielded six sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

The operation was conducted by Balamban Police Station personnel in coordination with elements from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 7.

Cases will be filed against the four arrested persons for violation of Republic Act 1965, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — (FREEMAN)
