I.T. park access, Geonzon Street conflict hoped to end next week

AJ de la Torre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - While the first meeting among officials of the Cebu Provincial Government, Filinvest Land Inc., and Cebu Property Ventures Development Corporation at the Capitol went well yesterday, no resolution on the problem over Geonzon Street at the Cebu I.T Park has been made yet.

All parties, however, hoped to come up with a win-win solution on the problem by next week, said Governor Hilario Davide III.

“There are some mga minor lose ends nalang gyud. We hope to resolve them, hopefully next week,” said Davide, adding that both CPVDC and Filinvest were able to raise their respective concerns on access of Geonzon Street.

Provincial Administrator Mark Tolentino, though, said that as agreed with the other parties, they could not divulge specifics of the discussion.

“We’re still discussing matters. We’re getting into more on the particular details,” he told reporters yesterday.

FLI requested access through Geonzon Street towards its construction project adjacent the I.T. Park. CPVDC, though, has declined and even built a fence right beside the street to properly delineate the boundary.

Yesterday, Tolentino said the presence of representatives of both parties proved that the companies want to have the matter resolved.

He admitted that the concern is difficult and “unique,” as both companies are partners of the provincial government.

“There are things that both parties want to discuss. Lisud man ni siya, we have to arrive to that situation where everybody is satisfied with the result,” he said. — (FREEMAN)
