Concert organized to help fund CCMC construction
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC), through the Cebu City Interfaith Movement (CCIM), will hold a “One Night Only” concert to help raise funds for the construction of the new hospital building.
CCMC chief of hospital Dr. Gloria Duterte said they are expecting 10,000 people to attend the concert on October 4, in time for its 53rd Founding Anniversary. The concert would have a general admission of P100 per person.
Proceeds of the concert will be placed under the “Piso Mo, Hospital Ko” fund drive of the city government for the construction of the new CCMC building.
“I hope you will always be with us to help us realize our dream (to construct the new CCMC),” Duterte said.
The new CCMC hospital will reportedly cost P1.3 billion. It will be constructed on its old location at the corner of N. Bacalso Avenue and Panganiban Street.
Duterte disclosed that around 15 to 20 employees of CCMC will be performing during the concert while they are also planning to invite other performers.
Further, Reverend Joe Steven Berdin of CCIM said the community plays a big role in building the new CCMC.
“Let us welcome this opportunity. We should unite. Let us all get those pesos, centavos, let us pull them together and come up with whatever it will cost, to come up with the new CCMC,” Berdin said.
Since the city-run hospital was declared unfit to use after the 7.2 magnitude earthquake last year, the city government has been looking for ways to gather funds for the construction of a new hospital.
Months ago, City Mayor Michael Rama even visited his relatives and friends in other countries in order to solicit funds for its construction.
Last July 26, the city government organized the “Walk for CCMC” which was spearheaded by CCIM.
In that event, the city government gathered P500,000 for its construction.
The “Piso Mo, Hospital Ko” project of the city government has collected more than P16 million coming from individual donors, local government units and private organizations. —(FREEMAN)
