Bryner L. Diaz - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A mother and her son were arrested after they were allegedly seized with illegal drugs in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tayud, Liloan at past 8 pm Friday.

Liloan Police swooped down on Alicia Abadines, 54, the subject of the operation including her son Alecan Abadines, 36, who also yielded with suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

Police arrested Alicia immediately after she sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to a poseur-buyer.

Senior Inspector Ramil Morpos, chief of Liloan Police Station, said that prior to the operation, he received numerous reports about Alicia allegedly engaging in illegal drug trade allegedly started by her late husband over a year ago.

Morpos said they initially did not believe that the female Abadines was a drug pusher but after some two weeks of surveillance, the report was verified, prompting them to arrange a buy-bust operation against the suspect.

Police confiscated eight shabu packs and the marked money from Alicia and another eight small packs from her son.

Meanwhile in Barangay Yati, three other persons were arrested in a buy-bust operation at 7 pm on Saturday.  Arrested were Ligaya Balorio, 51; Rey Ronald Tolo, 26; and Jepee Cabulo, 23.

Balorio was arrested after she reportedly sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to a police decoy. Eight more packs of the same substance and a coin pouch containing P200 were found from her possession.

Tolo and Cabulo, who were at the scene during the buy-bust operation, were frisked and also arrested after they wear each found with a small plastic pack of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia.

The suspects were brought to Liloan Police Station and will be facing charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.  (FREEMAN)
